'The Decay of Belonging'

2017

‘The Decay of Belonging’ explores the connection between location and belonging. Having grown up between the farming community in rural Cheshire and Loughborough the artist feels a fragmented sense of belonging between two locations. By relocating farm materials from her dairy farm to Loughborough to create these sculptures, the artist aims to recreate a sense of belonging to the farm in the location that she currently resides. Such preservation of belonging is necessary in contemporary society as the future of British dairy farming is in jeopardy, and it is likely that her farm will no longer be viable in the coming years.
