'Natural Phenomena Series'

2018

This series of work expands upon the 'Sculptural Concept Illustrations'. Transforming 2d into 3d wax sculptures which immerse the audience in a natural phenomenon experience. The work takes inspiration from natural organic forms which are often considered grotesque or beautiful, demonstrating the subjectivity of the human eye.

This series of work is apart of a series of cluster wax sculptures, made from biodegradable waxes. Taken from fungal organisms the work reflects a grotesque beauty found within nature. Yet the use of bright warm colours portrays an artificiality, something unfamiliar and alien. Through this aesthetic, the artist intends to present the problem of human manipulation of mother earth.
